The unit matters. The installation matters more.

Every opening is measured and recorded separately, because in older masonry no two are the same. Units are ordered against that schedule rather than as a set, and installed one elevation at a time so the house is never widely open.

We will pass on the manufacturer's published performance figures for whichever unit you choose. We will not attach a savings estimate to them, because that number would depend on your house, your heating system, and your habits, and any figure we gave you would be a guess.

An insert replacement fits a new unit inside the existing frame. It is quicker, less disruptive, and reduces the glass area slightly. It is a reasonable choice when the existing frames are genuinely sound.

A full-frame replacement goes back to the rough opening, which lets the flashing and air sealing be rebuilt and any concealed damage be found and repaired. If there is any sign of water, this is the only way to know what you are dealing with.

The part most often left out of a window quote is the finishing. We renew exterior trim and sealant, and we finish interior returns and casing rather than caulking the gap between a new unit and old plaster.
